No two weeks the same
One week it’s a regional water treatment upgrade, the next an iron ore mine or a bioenergy project. That variety is genuinely one of the best things about working here, and you feel it in every role.
Complex work, real variety and real impact. Join a family-owned Bendigo team building control systems for some of the country’s most critical infrastructure.
Metroid is a project business. We design, build, program and commission complex industrial control switchboards for some of the most critical infrastructure in the country, and that variety shows up in every role here, not just the technical ones.
One week it’s a regional water treatment upgrade, the next an iron ore mine or a bioenergy project. That variety is genuinely one of the best things about working here, and you feel it in every role.
The boards that leave our factory go into real infrastructure: water treatment plants, mines, factories, renewable energy sites. You see your work running in the world, not stuck in a slide deck.
Engineering, sheet metal, powdercoating, assembly, wiring, programming, testing, commissioning, project management, procurement and despatch, all in one building in Bendigo. The person you need is usually a short walk away.
From engineering, programming and manufacturing trades to project management, procurement, customer service, sales and finance, there’s a place here for technical and non-technical talent alike.

That’s our purpose. A family-owned Bendigo business on a mission to become the world’s best board builder, with a clear plan for strong growth over the next decade, and we’re looking for the people who’ll get us there.
Metroid is proudly based in Bendigo, a vibrant regional city of around 110,000 people, 90 minutes north-west of Melbourne. It’s been our home for 30+ years, and it’s a big part of why our team stays. You get the lifestyle of a regional city, affordable housing, a short commute, great schools, world-class hospitals and real green space, without giving up the cafés, restaurants, galleries and sport of a major centre.

Regular V/Line train service and an easy drive on the Calder.

Say goodbye to 90 minutes of traffic.
Trails, lakes, sport, food, schools and family, all close to hand.
Metroid has been family-owned since 1993. Today the business is led by the five sons of founder Steve Weeks, the next generation running the place they grew up in. It’s not a marketing line: family ownership shapes how decisions get made, how people are treated, and the kind of place this is to work.
No shareholder pressure and no ‘making a quick buck’. Decisions get made on what’s right for the business in 10 years, not 10 weeks.
When the business has your name on it, you care about the work, the customers and the people who make it happen. It’s not corporate, it’s personal.
No head office in another country, no maze of middle management. Just the people doing the work and the people running the place.
30+ years in, with a clear roadmap for the next decade. The business will always be here, which means the careers we build here will always continue.

Everything we do is guided by a clear purpose and a set of core values that shape how we work, how we treat each other, and how we show up for our customers. To be a ‘Metroidian’ is to live, breathe and work in line with these values.
Could you be the next Metroidian?

We speak honestly and take responsibility for our actions. We share the good, the bad and the ugly with each other, with no politics, no blame and no hiding the facts. Direct communication and clear expectations are non-negotiable.

We’re always looking for a better way. Comfortable with change, open-minded about new ideas, and genuinely excited by future opportunities. We don’t hold onto old ways just because they’re familiar.

Growth mindset. We put the team’s success before our own ego, thrive on feedback, and are passionate about continuously learning and improving. Winning as a team beats winning as an individual.

We gladly help others wherever we can, colleagues and customers alike. We share our knowledge freely, provide warm and proactive support, and adapt to the needs of others with a smile.

Solutions mindset, regardless of who caused the problem. We push through challenges, use initiative to clear roadblocks, and implement fixes that prevent issues from ever coming back.
Metroid is a place where you’re recognised, supported and set up to thrive. The recognitions and programs below aren’t badges on a wall; they’re the way we operate every day.
Independent recognition that reflects the trust, pride and genuine camaraderie our team experiences every day at Metroid.
Life happens. Our EAP provides free, confidential counselling and support for all team members and their immediate families, whenever it’s needed.
Health and safety is a genuine priority, not a checkbox. Our safety management systems meet the highest international standards.
We’re committed to reducing our environmental footprint. Environmental responsibility is built into the way we operate.

Our internal training and development program turns potential into capability. Structured learning, on-the-job mentoring, and cross-training help every Metroidian build new skills and take the next step in their career.
It's a series of modular training programs spanning every role in the business — driving rapid upskilling for new starters, and reinforcing the quality and consistency we deliver on every job.
Beyond the certifications and the values on the wall, here’s what life at Metroid actually looks like.

A purpose-built Bendigo factory with full in-house manufacturing capability and great amenities.

We’re a meritocracy. No politics, no favouritism, no glass ceilings, just the people best placed to do the work doing the work. Your growth here is limited only by your effort and your drive. We don’t hold people back, and we don’t keep people in roles they’re not suited for.
Roles, responsibility and opportunity go to whoever can genuinely do the job, measured on results, not on who they know.
If you want to grow, we’ll back you. Several of our current leaders started on the factory floor, that pathway is real and it’s open.
Flat structure, open-book communication and ideas welcomed from anyone. The best ideas win, regardless of who they came from.
We love to see our people grow and develop, often beyond what they believed possible. Through our Emerging Leaders Program and a development-first culture, we give every team member the tools, mentorship and opportunity to reach their potential.
A self-led, mentor-supported program designed to identify and develop the next generation of leadership at Metroid. Places are limited to ensure every graduate is genuinely ready to step into a leadership role.
Several of our current leaders started on the factory floor. The ELP is how we keep that pipeline alive.

Managers and senior leaders identify high-potential team members and put them forward for the program.
Participants complete a psychometric profile, receive 360° feedback, and map their leadership competency gaps.
Each participant is assigned a dedicated leadership mentor from within the business to guide and coach them.
Growth happens through a proven 70 / 20 / 10 model: real experience, exposure to mentors, and formal training.
When the timing is right for both you and the business, you transition into a genuine leadership role.
Don’t take it from us. Here’s what working at Metroid actually feels like, in our team’s own words.
